LUCY PETRIE

Born in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State, Lucy has lived in Vermont for more than 3 decades. After many years working as a clinical psychologist Lucy was accepted into her first juried art exhibition in 2004. In 2007 she was elected to signature membership in the Pastel Society of America (PSA). In 2009 Lucy received the Master Circle Award from the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS).

More than almost anything Lucy enjoys being outdoors hiking, cycling, paddling, swimming, walking and snowshoeing. This keen connection to the living world inspires her artwork.

She has exhibited work in many local, national and international shows including: the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada's International Juried Exhibition, the International Association of Pastel Societies, Northeast National Pastel Exhibition; Pastel Painters of Maine; Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod; Pastel Society of America's Annual Exhibition; Connecticut Pastel Society's Annual show; American Artists Professional League; the Salmagundi Club, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club's Annual Exhibition, North Carolina Pastel Society, Pastel National 2008, Richeson 75, Pastels by Invitation on Cape Cod, and Academic Artists Association.

Lucy's paintings have appeared in The Pastel Journal and American Artist magazines and will appear in Best of America Pastel Artists Vol. II.

Lucy teaches courses in “The Business of Art: The Psychology of Taking Yourself Seriously” and “Beginning Pastel.”
